playground energy

Playground Energy – Lesson

Energy is everywhere.  It is in your cellphone battery, the gas tank of your car, and even in that frozen burrito you are heating in your dirty microwave.  You can’t ignore it or it will cost you money, or add weight to your thighs.  So what exactly is energy?  And can we manipulate it to work to our advantage?  This lesson dives into the fundamental details of energy and how it is converted to both useful and unusual forms.

In this lesson we will

  • Visit a playground to learn about the types of energy and how they change form
  • Swing on a swing, bounce a ball, and play with playground equipment to experience that energy change
